Returning to where it all began

Join the Connectivity Innovation Network  for a presentation and demonstration of the Wireless Rain Gauge, an innovative technology developed by Dr Kai Wu from the University of Technology Sydney.

Using wireless radio signals to measure rainfall in real time, the Wireless Rain Gauge explores a new approach to rainfall monitoring that could support disaster preparedness and environmental monitoring, particularly in flood-prone regions.

The event forms part of CIN’s Sensing for Disasters initiative, delivered in collaboration with the NSW Smart Sensing Network (NSSN).

The initiative grew from discussions at CIN’s first Regional Connectivity Symposium, co-hosted with Southern Cross University in Lismore in 2023. During the symposium, local stakeholders highlighted the need for new approaches to disaster sensing and flood resilience. Returning to Lismore, this event brings one of the outcomes of those conversations back to the community where they began.
