Vehicle-as-a-Node (VaaN) Antenna Development Demonstration
Join the Connectivity Innovation Network for a live demonstration of the Vehicle-as-a-Node (VaaN) Antenna Development Project, showcasing a novel antenna solution designed to improve Wi-Fi coverage for Vehicle-as-a-Node systems used by emergency service organisations.
The project, led by Associate Professor Peiyuan Qin and Dr Lizhao Song from the University of Technology Sydney in collaboration with WANFi Technology, was selected through CIN’s Vehicle-as-a-Node Antenna Development Call for Proposals. The project focuses on developing a low-cost omnidirectional Wi-Fi antenna capable of extending coverage around VaaN-equipped vehicles, supporting more reliable connectivity for first responders operating in the field.
About the Demonstration
This live field demonstration will provide attendees with the opportunity to observe the antenna technology in a practical deployment environment and learn more about the project’s development and outcomes.
The demonstration will evaluate the antenna’s performance across a range of real-world operating conditions, including:
- Extended distance coverage
- High data-rate communications
- Operation in environments with physical obstructions
Attendees will gain insight into the technical approach, design considerations and performance of the antenna solution, as well as its potential to enhance connectivity for emergency service personnel operating beyond the immediate vicinity of a vehicle.
The event will conclude with a discussion of the project outcomes and opportunities for future development.
Further event details, including the full agenda, demonstration location and registration information, will be announced soon.
